DEAR AFRICAN CHILD

Dear African child,

Hope of the future

To whom these dreams were given to nurture.

Dear African child,

I know you feel overwhelmed by the duties of a first child.

And at every point your environment reminds you that you are a girl child.

Shey grandma told you about the ancient days,

When female children do not go to school or see it’s compound only by grace.

Now you are allowed to experience education.

It’s a privilege with much expectation.

Mummy wants you to become a doctor, daddy wants you to become a lawyer.

Everyone wants you to climb high without a ladder.

Dear African child,

You must keep your hope high.

Along the line you may flop.

Know there’s a room for you at the top.

Give becoming the best your all,you will be taken to the hall of success where you will enjoy the fruit of your struggle even much more.
